Good Friday, 09 2nd Place Winner -

A lot of bands start with a desire. Some start with an idea. Good Friday started with both of those precepts and with a purpose. Good Friday is a moderate rock/contemporary band with members ranging in age and experience. The band fuses faith with making great music and having fun doing it.

Beginning as the "Higher Ground House Band" in 2005 performing regularly at Higher Ground Christian Coffeehouse the band received numerous invitations to play out in the community. Following a few subsequent successes, Good Friday was formed.

SWCC student and Vocalist Emily Ratliff completed her first recording project "Perfect Plan" at age 12 and performs regularly as a solo performer, as a part of the band "Failure to Fall," and with Good Friday. Em is also a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Percussion and drums are provided by Bryan Davis, a powerful, articulate, and technical drummer whose skill drives Good Friday's original music from melodic interludes to pounding rhythms and everything else in between. Guitarist Roger Vandyke is a staple of solid rhythm and has played with various groups throughout Southwest Virginia for many years while performing every imaginable style of music from bluegrass to heavy metal and has played various instruments along the way. Ted "IronmanTed" Watson holds down the fort with the bass groove while guitarist Brad Ratliff just enjoys being along for the ride.

Collectively, Good Friday cranks out some great songs and a lot of fun while being true to the faith.unavailable.
