M.P.H. is a three piece rock band hailing from Richlands, Virginia. M.P.H. consists of Mike Matney on guitar and vocals, Patrick McClintock on bass and vocals, and Jerry Hogeston on drums. All of the group's members are veterans of the local music scene. Mike was a founding member of "White Boy and the Average Rat Band", whose self-titled album released in the early 1980s is still highly sought after by collectors. Mike has also been a touring guitarist with David Allen Coe. Patrick was a founding member of "Magick", a heavy metal band who performed throughout southwest Virginia in the 1980s. Jerry has performed nearly one thousand gigs during his lengthy club career, having been a member of "The Whiskey River Band", a well-known and well-traveled local country group throughout the 1980s. The members of M.P.H. played together in various incarnations throughout the 1990s with an ever-changing lineup of sidemen, constantly shifting from performing cover songs for live audiences to recording original songs written by Mike. By 2000, however, the lineup solidified into the present power trio and M.P .H. was born. Owing to the member's wide-ranging influences, M.P.H. plays everything from classic rock to blues standards to original modem rock, and even some classic country and oldies. M.P.H. has performed throughout southwest Virginia at venues including roadside bandstands, barrooms, and county fairs. No gig is too big or too small. The members of M.P.H. all love music and playing for live audiences and it shows in every performance.
