James K. Beazley, 2009 Keynote Speaker
James K. Beazley has been with the Virginia/North Carolina State and Local Affairs of Dominion Resources Inc., since May 1, 2006.
A native of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Beazley received an associate’s degree of science from Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary in 1998 and bachelor's degree in Management of Human Resources from Barton College in 2000.
Currently, Beazley directs Dominion’s public policy for Southwestern Virginia, which includes evaluating and developing wind facilities in Tazewell and Wise Counties. Most recently, he supervised public policy efforts for the successful 2008 permitting of a clean coal-fired power station in Wise County.
Beazley came to Dominion with 6 years state government experience and previously served as Director of Policy and Press for Delegate Terry G. Kilgore. Prior to joining Delegate Kilgore in 2006, Beazley served as Director of Scheduling for former Attorney General Jerry W. Kilgore, both in the Attorney General’s office and his statewide campaign for Governor in 2005. From 2000 to 2001, he served as a special assistant to the Governor of Virginia.
He was named Young Alumnus of Year by Barton College in 2005; presently serves on the Mountain Empire Community College Foundation Board; the Virginia Mining Association Board; Ducks Unlimited, Appomattox Chapter Board; and works as a mentor to students at Mechanicsville Elementary School and Broad Rock Elementary School in Metropolitan Richmond.
